Origin: this convexed box (circa 1880) was made using a reclaimed shard of antique porcelain with a pewter trim. During the Chinese cultural revolution, owning porcelain became illegal, so many broke their vases and plates and discarded the remants. Later, these were retrieved and reworked into shard boxes like this one.
